2, 3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (), also known as 2, 3-dimercaptosuccinic acid, is an organic sulfur compound, white crystalline powder at room temperature. Because the molecule contains two sulfhydryl groups, it has the characteristic odor of sulfhydryl compounds. Both dimercaptosuccinic acid and its sodium salts can be used as antidotes to treat heavy metal poisoning. Dimercaptosuccinic acid has two diastereoisomers, one is a meso and the other is a racemic. Racemes can be used as chelating agents, and sodium salts are commonly used.

DMSA is also a preferred lead poisoning antidote, particularly in children as it is less toxic than DMPS. Meso-DMSA has multiple advantages over other chelators, such as low toxicity, no redistribution of metal from one organ to another.
